In a conversation with STYLE NEWS.AM, Gevorg Yeghiazaryan, Head of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Service at the “Surb Grigor Lusavorich” Medical Center, says that people mostly seek help regarding an aquiline nose.
Mostly, they come with complaints about impaired nasal breathing, while simultaneously deciding to improve the shape of the nose. Regarding the shape of the nose, our compatriots primarily dislike a more or less pronounced hump. The second most popular complaint is the presence of a hypertrophied and/or droopy nasal tip.
The doctor notes that women most frequently seek the help of plastic surgery. Of course, men seek it much less frequently than women, and when they do, it is primarily due to serious problems with nasal breathing. For women, shape usually comes first, and only then function.
By the way, girls can undergo rhinoplasty starting from the age of 17, while guys can only do so from 18. This is due to slightly later puberty in men.
Speaking about people who consult a plastic surgeon without having any health problems, Gevorg Yuryevich said that he always tries to dissuade them first.
I am often asked on social media:
— Look at my photos and tell me if I need rhinoplasty or not.
I answer everyone the same way:
— Whether you need plastic surgery or not is up to you to decide. This decision should not be spontaneous or arise against a background of depression. It must be conscious.
During the consultation, I always try to dissuade them from the surgery first. Sometimes it works 🙂
If not, then we proceed to clarify the future shape of the nose. The patient must clearly understand what kind of nose they want to get and what kind of nose can possibly be achieved as a result of the operation. If these two factors do not match, it is better not to perform the surgery. In such cases, free preoperative computer modeling of the nose helps a lot.
To the question of how often rhinoplasty can be performed, the surgeon replied:
Revision surgeries can be performed without consequences only 1 year after the initial operation.
This is due to the fact that scarring processes finish within a year. If the operation is performed earlier than this time, the risk of complications increases significantly.
