Introduction and Primary Complaints
A young woman reached out for help to correct a pronounced facial asymmetry. The problem was caused by a nasal deformity. Given the characteristic curvature, the aesthetic discomfort was accompanied by serious functional impairments — obstructed nasal breathing.
Initial Anatomical Findings
After carefully studying the CT scan results and performing a visual examination, I outlined several key objectives for the correction:
- Axis and septum: A severe deviated nasal septum, causing visible asymmetry and shifting the nasal bridge to the side.
- Nasal bridge: Presence of a noticeable hump that disrupted the smoothness of the profile.
- Nasal tip: Drooping and slightly bulky, which visually weighed down the facial features and added age.
- Skin: Fairly thick and porous. This texture always complicates the work, as it demands precision craftsmanship to form an elegant and detailed tip.
Surgical Course and Nuances
My task was to perform a functional and aesthetic rhinoseptoplasty. First and foremost, I carried out a total septal reconstruction — this allowed me to realign the central axis and restore proper breathing to the patient.
To address the aesthetics, I removed the hump and adjusted the projection of the nasal tip. Due to the skin density, I needed to build a reinforced cartilage framework that could reliably support the new, more refined shape and prevent the tissues from sagging in the future.
Outcome: Harmony and Functionality
Following the correction, we achieved a straight, neat, and harmonious nose. I eliminated the deviation, straightened the bridge, and slightly lifted the tip, giving the patient’s face a fresh, rested, and more feminine appearance.
The most important result for me as a doctor is that the young woman not only gained confidence in her looks but can also breathe freely again. As the patient herself beautifully put it: “I have my mother’s eyes, but my nose is from Gevorg Yuryevich.”
