Introduction and main complaints
A charming young lady came for an initial consultation, her main request being the correction of a pronounced nasal asymmetry. As is almost always the case with such deformities, aesthetic discomfort went hand in hand with functional issues — the curvature negatively affected the quality of nasal breathing.
Initial anatomical profile
During a detailed examination of the initial “Before” profile, I noticed a significant deviation of the nasal axis and a noticeable asymmetry of the nostrils. The columella was slanted, and the nasal tip looked displaced and lacked refinement due to uneven distribution and deformity of the cartilages. Such anatomical features always bring imbalance to facial perception, drawing attention away from other beautiful features.
Surgical procedure and nuances
I performed an open hybrid rhinoseptoplasty. Correcting severe asymmetry is always a challenge, requiring flawless architectural precision from the surgeon. My goal was not only to create a beautiful frontal view and profile but also to construct a reliable, straight framework. The open approach allowed me to perform delicate, precision work on the cartilaginous structures of the tip and nasal alae, while the septoplasty stage was essential for straightening the septum and fully restoring free breathing.
Result: Harmony and functionality
Evaluating the “After” result, I see exactly the harmony we aimed for. I managed to completely straighten the nasal axis, achieve symmetry of the nostrils, and shape a neat, centered, and refined tip. The patient’s face was instantly transformed, becoming softer and more proportional, while breathing problems became a thing of the past. Perhaps the most rewarding part of my work is seeing how, along with a new, straight nose, absolute self-confidence returns to patients, and hearing warm jokes that now “the eyes are mom’s, but the nose is from Gevorg Yurievich.”
