A young patient who reached out to me for help decided to get rid of her massive “hawk” profile. She admitted that the shape of her nose deprived her of self-confidence and made her facial expression excessively stern. In addition, the young woman was troubled by a constant feeling of nasal congestion.
Initial Anatomy (“Before” Photo)
When analyzing her profile, I encountered pronounced anatomical features that required a major surgical restructuring:
- Nasal dorsum: a large, high osteocartilaginous hump was present, which disrupted all facial proportions and visually weighed down its middle third.
- Nasal tip: was significantly drooped downward and excessively projected forward. Because of this, the nose appeared too long, and the nasolabial angle was acute, which visually added age to the young woman.
- Functional state: a severe external deformity always goes hand in hand with internal impairments. During the examination, I diagnosed a pronounced deviated nasal septum, which almost completely blocked normal airflow on one side.
Surgical Progress and Goals
My goal in this case was precise and large-scale: radical changes were required, yet natural results had to be preserved, avoiding the look of an “operated nose.”
I performed a closed rhinoseptoplasty. In the first stage, I worked on the internal structures — performing a septoplasty, straightening the septum and restoring physiological breathing. Next, I proceeded to the aesthetic stage: gently reducing the bony and cartilaginous components of the hump, building a new, smooth nasal dorsum line. The most critical part was shortening the nose — I lifted (rotated) the tip, secured it in its new position, and formed an elegant, open nasolabial angle.
Result After 1 Month (“After” Photo)
The “After” photo shows the result just one month after the surgery. For such an early stage, the tissues look amazing. Admittedly, tight postoperative swelling still persists on the tip and dorsum of the nose (it will gradually subside over the course of a year), but the key changes are already visible now:
- The heavy hump has been completely eliminated, and the profile line has become smooth and refined.
- The nasal tip has been lifted, becoming neat and harmonious, visually reducing the length of the nose.
- The patient’s face instantly softened, her gaze became more open, and the natural femininity and gentleness of her features emerged.
But most importantly, my patient now breathes perfectly through her nose and admits that this surgery has completely changed her self-perception. A wonderful interim result that will become even more refined and elegant over time.
