A young female patient approached me with a desire to make her profile softer and more feminine. A large nose with a hump disrupted the overall facial harmony, giving it excessive severity; therefore, our main goal was to restore natural softness and refinement.
Initial Anatomical Features (Before Surgery)
During the examination in the profile view, I identified several key anatomical nuances that required surgical correction:
- Nasal dorsum: A pronounced osteocartilaginous hump that disrupted the smoothness of the lines and made the profile look masculine.
- Nasal tip: Noticeably droopy, with an acute nasolabial angle. Due to this shape, the nose appeared excessively long, which visually weighed down the middle third of the face and added years to the patient’s appearance.
- Functional aspect: In addition to aesthetic dissatisfaction, the patient noted difficulty in nasal breathing caused by the deviation of the internal structures of the septum.
Surgical Course and Objectives
To achieve an ideal balance of facial features, I performed a comprehensive rhinoseptoplasty. During the operation, I sequentially addressed the following tasks:
- Hump removal: I performed a careful and precise resection of bone and cartilage excesses, shaping an absolutely straight, elegant nasal dorsum.
- Tip modeling: The tip of the nose was rotated (lifted) upward and securely fixed in a new, anatomically correct position. This allowed opening the nasolabial angle and visually reducing the length of the nose.
- Restoration of function: I performed a septoplasty, straightening the deformed septum and clearing the airways.
Aesthetic Outcome (Early Result at 3 Weeks)
The photos on the right side of the collage demonstrate a very early result — just 3 weeks after the surgery.
For such a short period, we see colossal changes. It is important to note that at this stage, moderate postoperative swelling still persists (especially in the area of the nasal tip), which will gradually subside over several months, making the lines even more defined.
Nevertheless, even now the profile looks incredibly aesthetic and harmonious. The new shape of the nose has completely changed the perception of the face: the former severity has disappeared, the gaze has become more open, and the features are soft and youthful. Nasal breathing is fully restored, and even at this early stage of rehabilitation, the patient genuinely enjoys her transformation.
