A young female patient came to me for a consultation with a pronounced nasal deformity that severely disharmonized her profile and deprived her facial features of softness. In addition to aesthetic discomfort, such a significant change in the nasal architectonics is almost always accompanied by the narrowing of the internal valves and impairment of full nasal breathing.
When viewed in profile (“Before” photo), a massive, high osteocartilaginous hump of the nasal dorsum was striking. The nasal tip was severely drooped downward, forming a so-called “hawk” profile, with a pronounced deficit of rotation and an acute nasolabial angle. The nose looked excessively long and heavy, which visually overloaded the middle third of the face and added age to the young woman. The patient’s skin possessed good elasticity; however, a significant reduction in nasal volume always requires jeweler’s precision from the surgeon: the tissues must contract perfectly evenly along the new contour.
My task was to radically change the profile, making it feminine, graceful, and harmonious. The operation required a large-scale structural reshaping. I performed a careful resection of the excess bone and cartilage tissue of the nasal dorsum, completely eliminating the hump and shaping a smooth, noble line. I paid special attention to the nasal tip: shortened its projection, lifted it (performed rotation), and securely fixed it in a new, anatomically correct position. In parallel, a septoplasty was performed to correct the internal septum and fully restore the respiratory function.
In the “After” photo, we see a stunning result of the profiloplasty. The nasal dorsum became absolutely smooth, and the neat, slightly upturned tip opened up the nasolabial angle. The patient’s face was instantly transformed — it began to look much softer, gentler, and younger, while fully preserving her individuality. The young woman got rid of long-standing complexes and can finally breathe freely.
