Rejuvenating Effect of Rhinoplasty: Correction of Tip Ptosis (8 Months)

Description

An adult female patient consulted me seeking aesthetic correction of her nose shape. Her main complaint was dissatisfaction with the appearance of her nose in profile — the drooping tip visually weighed down the face and, as felt by the patient herself, added age to her appearance. In addition, she was bothered by periodic nasal breathing difficulty.

Initial Anatomical Features (“Before” Photo)

When analyzing the profile, I noted the following structural features:

  • Nasal tip: pronounced ptosis (drooping) of the nasal tip downward was observed. Due to the lack of cartilaginous support, the nasolabial angle was excessively acute. This anatomical position of the tip visually elongated the middle third of the face and created a characteristic “tired” expression effect.
  • Nasal dorsum: had a slight irregularity in the cartilaginous section, transitioning into a descending line toward the tip.
  • Internal structures: examination revealed a deviated nasal septum, which narrowed the nasal passages and obstructed free airflow.
Surgical Goals and Correction Procedure

My primary goal in this case went beyond simple nose reduction. It was an aesthetic-functional operation with a powerful rejuvenating effect. I needed to restore breathing, elevate the nasal tip, and recreate a harmonious, open nasolabial angle, restoring lightness to the face.

During the procedure, I performed a septoplasty to fully restore nasal breathing. Then, I proceeded with the structural reconstruction: delicately corrected the nasal dorsum, removed excess length, and rotated (elevated) the nasal tip. To ensure the result remains stable throughout life and the tip does not droop again under the influence of facial expressions and gravity, I securely fixed it in its new position using strong cartilaginous autografts.

Result After 8 Months (“After” Photo)

8 months after the surgery, when the main postoperative swelling has completely subsided, we see a stunning transformation:

  • The dorsal line became completely smooth, refined, and well-defined.
  • The nasal tip is delicately elevated, forming a correct, harmonious nasolabial angle.
  • Rejuvenation effect: see how dramatically the profile perception of the face has changed. Eliminating tip ptosis visually “opened” the face, made the middle third more compact, and rendered the upper lip contour more elegant. The patient looks noticeably younger and fresher.

Nasal breathing is completely normalized. The patient is thrilled with her new, rejuvenated reflection in the mirror and notes that the surgery exceeded all her expectations.
