Profile Harmonization and Correction of a Massive Dorsal Hump (2 Weeks)

Description

A young woman came for an initial consultation with a classic request — to harmonize her profile and eliminate a large dorsal hump that robbed her facial features of softness and femininity. The nose appeared excessively massive, visually weighing down the middle third of her face.

Initial Anatomical Findings (Before)

Upon analyzing the patient’s profile and three-quarter view, I identified the following set of structural characteristics:

  • Nasal dorsum: High, sharply defined osteocartilaginous hump forming a pronounced convex silhouette.
  • Nasal tip: Visually drooping, with an acute nasolabial angle. Combined with the large hump, this “drooping” tip gave the facial expression excessive severity and added age.
  • Internal structures: Massive external deformities almost always coexist with septal deviation, which was confirmed in this case as well, causing the patient periodic breathing difficulties.
Surgical Procedure and Goals

My main objective was to soften sharp lines, reduce nasal projection, and create an elegant profile without disturbing the natural facial balance.

I performed a closed rhinoseptoplasty. First, I corrected the septum to restore full respiratory function. Then, I carefully lowered the nasal bridge, completely eliminating the prominent hump and creating a smooth, refined transition from the radix. Special attention was required for the nasal tip: I reduced its projection and performed a neat upward rotation (elevation), thereby opening up the nasolabial angle and making the face look more open.

Results Just 2 Weeks Post-Op

The photo on the right shows a very early result — just two weeks have passed since the surgery. At this stage, normal postoperative signs are still present on the face: small residual marks and redness are visible in the skin area under the eyes, while a pronounced swelling persists on the nose itself, temporarily softening the refined contours (especially in the supratip area). A long tissue shrinking process still lies ahead; the swelling will gradually resolve over the course of a year, making the nose even thinner and more elegant.

Nevertheless, a massive difference is already visible today. The patient’s profile has transformed dramatically — the dorsal line has become smooth and soft, while the neat, slightly elevated tip has completely changed the facial aesthetics. Her appearance has become remarkably gentle, charming, and harmonious. The patient feels great, is unbothered by the swelling, and is already enjoying her new, aesthetic profile.
