A young man came for a consultation with a pronounced aesthetic and functional problem. The main complaints were a noticeable deviation of the nose, difficulty breathing, and a large hump that disrupted facial harmony and weighed down his features. When working with male noses, the key task for me as a surgeon is to preserve the masculinity of the profile, avoiding an excessive slope of the dorsum or an over-rotated tip, while making the shape neat and well-proportioned.
Anatomical Analysis “Before”:
- Nasal dorsum: a pronounced osteocartilaginous hump with a C-shaped deformity was observed. In the frontal photograph, it is clearly visible that the nasal axis is severely deviated to the left.
- Nasal tip: rather bulky, drooping downwards, with asymmetry of the alar cartilages. During smiling and facial expressions, the tip dropped even lower, visually lengthening the face.
- Nasal septum and breathing: severe deviation of the nasal septum significantly obstructed airflow. The patient suffered from constant nasal congestion.
Surgical Procedure and Objectives:
The work ahead was comprehensive — rhinoseptoplasty. In the first stage, I performed a precise septoplasty: straightened the nasal septum and restored full airflow through both nostrils. Next, I proceeded to the aesthetic part. I carefully removed the osteocartilaginous hump, narrowed the nasal bridge, and completely aligned it along the central axis of the face. The nasal tip was lifted, securely fixed in an anatomically correct position, and delicately narrowed while maintaining natural male proportions.
“After” Result:
The photographs show an intermediate result — just 1 month after the surgery. A dense post-operative swelling still persists on the skin (especially in the area of the nasal tip), which will gradually subside over the course of a year, making the lines even more defined.
Template: Nevertheless, the difference is colossal:
- The nose became perfectly straight; the asymmetry was completely eliminated.
- The profile acquired sharp, noble, and masculine contours without a hint of being operated on.
- The nasal tip no longer looks heavy or droopy.
The young man’s face began to look more open, harmonious, and attractive. But most importantly, my patient can once again breathe freely and fully through his nose, which has significantly improved his quality of life. We are both very pleased with the result.
