A young patient visited my clinic with a request for aesthetic correction of her nose shape. Her main desire was to make her face more feminine, soft, and harmonious by getting rid of a heavy, masculine profile. In addition, a detailed examination confirmed my assumptions about functional problems—the girl was concerned about periodic difficulty in nasal breathing.
Initial anatomical features (“Before” photos)
When analyzing the initial data, I highlighted several key structural features:
- A large, rigid osteocartilaginous hump that dominated the face and visually weighed down the middle third.
- Insufficient projection and definition of the nasal tip. In profile, the tip looked excessively straight and heavy, lacking an elegant transition from the dorsum (supratip break).
- Slight asymmetry of the nasal structures, which exacerbated the overall facial disproportion in the frontal projection.
- Medium-thick skin. This required from me the meticulous modeling of the underlying cartilaginous framework: it was necessary to create clear, chiseled edges that would beautifully show through the soft tissues after the swelling had completely subsided.
Course of the surgery and the surgeon’s goals
My goal was to create an elegant, chiseled silhouette of the nose that would emphasize the natural beauty of the patient’s large eyes and beautiful lips without disturbing the balance of her face.
I performed a closed rhinoseptoplasty. At the first, functional stage, I performed a septoplasty, correcting the internal deformities of the septum and completely restoring airway patency.
Then the delicate work on the shape began: I carefully lowered the nasal dorsum, completely eliminating the hump and narrowing the nasal bones. Special emphasis was placed on the nasal tip: I changed its shape, performed a slight upward rotation, and reconstructed the lower lateral cartilages to achieve beautiful definition and contouring. It was very important to create a highly stable cartilaginous support that would maintain the given shape for many years.
Result after 1 year (“After” photos)
In the “After” photos, we see the result exactly one year after the surgery. By this time, all tissues have completely recovered, and the postoperative swelling has disappeared, revealing the final result of our work:
- The profile has become incredibly noble and clean—the heavy hump has been replaced by a perfectly straight, elegant line of the dorsum.
- The nasal tip has acquired a well-defined, refined shape and delicate definition. The face as a whole is now perceived completely differently—the appearance has become softer, more aristocratic, and tender.
- In the frontal projection, the nose looks neat, symmetrical, and absolutely natural—none of the patient’s new acquaintances will ever guess that a plastic surgeon has worked here.
A year later, the patient’s breathing remains perfect, and her updated profile delights her every day. This is a wonderful example of how targeted, professional changes to the shape of the nose can completely reveal the femininity and harmony of the entire face.
