Comprehensive Reconstruction: Hump Removal and Asymmetry Correction

Description

A young woman sought a consultation regarding pronounced aesthetic imperfections of the nose, which, in her words, undermined her self-confidence. In addition to purely external concerns, the patient was troubled by a constant feeling of nasal congestion that interfered with free breathing.

Initial Anatomical Picture (Before)

During the initial examination, I identified a complex of anatomical features that required combined reconstruction:

  • Nasal bridge: In the frontal view, pronounced asymmetry and widening of the bony pyramid were noticeable. In profile, a large, high osteocartilaginous hump dominated, distorting the overall facial proportions.
  • Nasal tip: Excessively long, bulky, and drooping downward. The acute nasolabial angle visually weighed down the lower third of the face, giving the expression a stern, overly serious, and even tired look.
  • Respiratory function: The external deviation of the nasal axis was combined with a significant displacement of the internal septum, which severely impaired the patient’s quality of life.
Surgical Goals and Procedure

I faced the task of performing a full rhinoseptoplasty—restoring proper function to the nose and harmonizing the facial features, making them softer and more feminine.

During the surgery, I corrected the deviated septum, completely restoring unobstructed nasal breathing. Next, I proceeded with the precise sculpting of the external nose: gently lowering and straightening the bridge, removing the hump, and narrowing the bony structures in the frontal view to achieve perfect symmetry. The final and most delicate stage was working on the nasal tip—I adjusted its length, gave it a refined shape, and performed rotation (slightly lifting it upward), securing it in a new, aesthetically correct position.

Aesthetic and Functional Result (After)

In the follow-up photos, we can see a stunning transformation. The nose has become graceful, refined, and completely proportional to the rest of the facial features.

The profile line is now perfectly straight and elegant. Due to the lifting of the nasal tip, the nasolabial angle has opened up, which instantly “refreshed” the face, making it look visually younger, softer, and more harmonious. In the frontal view, the nose looks symmetric, neat, and slender, while completely preserving the patient’s natural individual features. But the most important thing for me as a doctor is that the young woman now breathes perfectly through her nose and sincerely enjoys her new reflection in the mirror.
