Introduction and Main Complaints
A charming young woman visited the medical center, her primary wish being to achieve harmony in her facial features and gain self-confidence. The main issue, noticeable at the very first examination, was a pronounced nasal asymmetry.
Initial Anatomical Condition
Studying the patient’s initial “Before” anatomy, I noticed a whole complex of nuances. First, there was a severe C-shaped deviation of the nasal dorsum and a deviation (displacement) of the nasal septum. Such a structure inevitably leads to serious difficulties with nasal breathing, so the patient was in acute need of not only aesthetic, but also full functional correction. Secondly, the nasal tip was slightly droopy and visually heavy, and the nostrils looked asymmetrical due to the deviation of the columella. In addition, the young woman had rather dense, porous skin. This always poses a challenge to a surgeon, as thick skin requires a particularly precise, structural approach when shaping a refined and well-defined nasal tip.
Surgical Procedure and Nuances
I performed a hybrid rhinoseptoplasty. During the surgery, my primary goal was to align the central axis of the face, restore the anatomically correct position of the septum for free breathing, and work meticulously with the cartilages to create a beautiful contour beneath the dense skin.
Outcome: Harmony and Functionality
Evaluating the “After” result, I can proudly say that I managed to fully achieve the set goals. I completely eliminated the asymmetry: now the nasal axis is perfectly straight. The nasal dorsum became straight and neat, the nasal tip was delicately lifted, gaining clarity and proper projection, and the nostrils became absolutely symmetrical.
The new, balanced structure of the nose instantly refreshed the young woman’s face, making it softer, more open, and refined. And, just as importantly, we fully restored free nasal breathing. Now, as the patient herself aptly noted: “The eyes are mom’s, but the nose is from the surgeon.” The young woman is genuinely happy with her new reflection in the mirror, and for me as a doctor, this is the greatest reward.
